I went up in a helicopter with a pilot and the photographer Cameron Davidson, who I hired because he had done a lot of aerial shooting and I wasn't sure whether I would be able to pull this off myself. [Dotted line and text are mine]. It would be more difficult to do in this area now, after 9/11. The text reads: 'Field at the corner of River Bend Road and Georgetown Pike in Great Falls, Virginia. Potomac River at upper right. May 31, 2000.' This is the field that will become the Gulick Groups' development 'Riverbend'.
This picture has handwirtten text which reads: 'Field to the north of the intersection of Georgetown Pike and River Bend Road. November 4, 2000'.
At this time, the Gulick Group developers had placed a sign along the road proclaiming:
'COMING SOON/ RIVERBEND/ TWO ACRE ESTATE HOMES/ FROM 1.4 MILLION/ 703-827-8494/ WWW.GULICKGROUP.CO

You may notice that there is a surveyor's stake directly at the middle bottom of the picture.

A tree that is next to the house featured in the previous picture. The tree has X marks on it indicating that it is to be cut down.
A little over a mile to the west of "Riverbend' is a property on Georgetown Pike called Marmota Farm, at the northeast corner of Georgetown Pike and Innsbruck Avenue. This is a view of the old dairy barn.
The text at the upper right of this picture reads: 'A plain old field at Marmota, to the east of the house and on the north side of Georgetown Pike. Fairfax County Tax Map Reference Number 0131 01 0037. Photographed 2001.' The property remains undeveloped, and there is a citizen's group attempting to preserve it as open space.

The text at lower right reads: 'Rotting unfinished house on 10 1/2 acres at 734 Leigh Mill Road. January 2005.' This had previously been the site of my friend Barbara's house, which was torn down for the construction of the unfinished house, which was also eventually torn down.
The text at the lower left of this picture reads: 'Sign that stood for two years at 9409 Georgetown Pike until the property sold for $2,050,000. October 18, 2006.'
